Starter plants and bushes again?

We've been getting our planting done in the house and gardens as the previous owners did not like working in the garden. My question is this, I've read all labels on flowers and shrubs need to be watered every day until they take. My brother in the law once again is telling me I'm wrong, that seems to like to do. We have planted seeds in the garden and plant startup, is planted two hydrangeas rhododendrun one and two cherry trees in the backyard. There are also bedding plants in the back. We planted two small bushes in the foreground, a rhododendrun and a Japanese maple leaf division. There are also three hanging baskets with petunias. Is it true that these need to be watered every day?

Since For rule, it must have daily watering. But there are always exceptions. The important thing is that you need to take into account climate, soil type you have and how much direct sun receives in each location. Before watering, dig about 8 inches to get a good idea of the amount of moisture in the soil near the root level. If the clumps of soil when pinch, you have adequate moisture. If the soil is dry or crumbling, it needs water. The areas that receive only partial sun can only be watered every day. Your hanging baskets will probably always require daily watering (especially in summer) and that the baskets have a lot more exposure to air and light as they can dry quickly. Here's a link to a website that is watering the newly planted trees, and describes how to recognize signs of over watering. I had an attachment of luxury for my hose like they show when I planted my Japanese maples, but I can see how it would be useful for watering near the roots. http://coopext.colostate.edu/4dmg/Trees/watering.htm So, you can tell your brother-in-law that irrigation of new plantings adequately. Just be careful not to over-water.
