Help! My container garden is infested with aphids!?
I live in a condo, so we have a container garden (and still I'm really new "gardener"). I saw my oleander dice, then I started noticing the little green and black holes in the stems of my basil plants (we have 16 in 4 different containers and cooking with it regularly). After doing some research, I think I have an aphid or ant problem and I think my oleander dead of sooty mold … is beginning to happen to another plant as well. Can I save the rest of my plants, especially the basil? I would prefer a home remedy type, and I read about the use of soapy water in a spray bottle, but have not found anything that addresses the problem of ants also a container garden situation. Any advice is much appreciated – thanks in advance! note – because I live in a condominium in the 5th story, I have a hose … only water with a watering can.
Aphids are soft-bodied and very easy to kill, but are practically born pregnant (read about it at some point) in any case – an organic control that works rather it is the milk mixed with water and then sprinkled on the ground to dry the mixture on the leaves and the aphids that causes their bodies to get tough, then they can not breath/move– can also just rinse your hand, and many of them will die because of water pressure. You can also use a 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water to kill small bugs. i personally on the soles of foods such as milk and method of water (1 cup skim milk can be added to 3 cups of water), but plants always rinse before dealing with the matter. milk and water will not harm most beneficial insects that may be in the mold of soot plants usually live in the secretions of insects molasses, ssssometimes only things cheesy. wash your face with a soft blend of insecticidal soap or warm water and a 10% alcohol, which kill a lot of mistakes and be able to tell you if the fungus is active
