strong>Vegetable Container Gardening In Texas

What vegetables are good for a container garden on my balcony looking south in central Texas?
I know that tomatoes, probably will do well, but what else?
I live in Dallas and in the summer, a south facing balcony, without a shadow is probably too hot for container plants. But until it reaches super hot in July, as you said small-fruited varieties of tomatoes (El Sol de Oro is excellent in our time, and are delicious, Thomas is a large plant, one in a large pot), eggplant, peppers and do well. As it is very hot, try to shadow that after 2 or 3 hours and the water so soon as they dry. Usually do not grow tomatoes here after the end of June (it is too hot and die) to plant as soon as time permits, but the eggplant and peppers can go all summer. Yellow squash is good too, but it becomes enormous, so only one plant to a container. There is an excellent variety of Pumpkin yellow called "Hybrid Squash Butterstick" (that is delicious and yellow). It's good for containers as they grow up and not run like other pumpkins type who can not work in pots.
