Gardens can be grown nearly anywhere. When one thinks of a garden they typically think of a residential home with a garden in the back yard. The art of gardening has grown well beyond the basics. You can now plant a garden nearly anywhere, rooftops, porches, and patios. People who live on boats are planting gardens in garden boxes. Gardens have become almost non-restrictive and capable of growing anywhere a person can contain dirt.

Indoor herb garden have become increasingly popular with the rising interest in alternative medicine. Vegetable gardens as well have become more popular than ever with the keen interest the public has in organic foods.

Gardens beautify the earth, create pleasant and stimulating atmospheres, and bring gardeners of all ages a sense of joy and even wonder. Learning to have a green thumb can be a remarkably rewarding experience. Gardens are universal and can offer people with nothing in common a solid base to understand each other.

While planning up for a garden, the first thing to keep in mind is to make a list all the things needed for it and to shop for it at the earliest. For more information on garden products you can easily browse the internet which gives all the informations related to garden and this possible by just clicking the mouse. Another option would be books and magazines related to gardening and thus you get to know more about garden.

After checking out various sites, books and magazines the first to be done is to determine a theme for the garden by you. Then start thinking about the look of the garden, the plants and accessories which would make it look attractive. There are several themes such as butterfly, sundial, temple, water, winter, jungle and even Japanese. These are some of the themes and more could be obtained by referring various sources and these are easy to build up.

You can also create space in your garden where you can place tables and chairs for an outdoor meal. This would be great when you do cook outs or have a small garden picnic with family and friends.

Of course if you love to do gardening and you have a green thumb, create a space where you could plant your flowers or vegetables. I know of some people who sow their own vegetables and herbs in their very own garden. Here, you are assured that it does not have any pesticides or any other chemicals used in letting it grow. If you have kids who like to do gardening also, you can give them a small planting place where they can plant just about anything. Teaching your kids how to grow plants will instill in them responsibility early on.

There is a difference between indoor plants and outdoor plants. So, one should know that the indoor houseplants and hanging baskets won’t need as much water in winters as they require in summers as compared to the outdoor plants, so only water when the soil is dry three inches under the surface. To prevent plants from becoming huge, limit them to one light feeding of fertilizer a month.

A garden will look beautiful if it is clean, so we have to be very careful about the cleanliness. Keeping your gardens clean and free of debris and dead plants will help prevent insects and diseases in your garden. Pull up summer annuals and remove dead foliage from perennials. Keep the leaves raked and chop them up to add to the compost pile. Continue to water and turn your compost pile regularly when possible. Turn the soil in beds that don’t contain plants to expose weed seeds and soil-borne insects to weather and birds.
